Silver Knights Keep on Winning

The Silver Knights added another win to the column on Thursday when they traveled to Ellenboro for an away contest with the Ritchie County Rebels. The Knights Luke Daugherty got the win working the mound for six innings striking out five and walking three. Trent Smith came on in the seventh to close things out.

The Knights jumped out to an 11-1 lead after 41/2 innings before Ritchie plated three in the bottom of the fifth to make it 11-4. From there it was all Tyler as they out punched the Rebels 3-1 in the seventh to pick up the win in the seventh and raise their record to a sparkling 16-3 on the year.

Dylan Roberts stepped up big at the plate knocking in three runs with a single and a double. Colby Buchanan singled in two runs and Daugherty added to his cause with an RBI single. The Knights out hit the Rebels 11-5 while committing only one error to five for the home team. “We had a good game, the guys are really working hard and this team just keeps on winning. They have proven to be something special and our record speaks for itself.”stated Coach Robby Jones. “Anything can happen in a single game but this group refuses to give up and I am proud of that.”

TCHS thumps Parkersburg Catholic

The Silver Knights poured in on the homestanding Crusaders on Wednesday night with a 9-2 thrashing behind great pitching and heavy hitting, while also having only one error in the field. Senior Nate Lantz picked up the win for the Knights working 4.2 innings before handing it over to Luke Daugherty for the save. The two combined for five strikeouts and two walks while allowing only 5 hits. Tyler pounded out 11 hits which proved to be the difference.

Dylan Robert swung the big bat for the Knights with a triple and a single. Lantz helped his own cause with an RBI on 2-4 hitting while Daugherty went 1-2 with a double and two RBI’s. Kyle Mason got in on the action with a double and a RBI on 2-4 at bats while Noah Smith drilled a double and knocked in a run. Tyler West added an RBI single for the Knights. The win propelled the Silver Knights to 15-3 heading down the stretch towards sectionals.

Silver Knights cobber St. Mary’s

Visiting Tyler Consolidated continued their winning ways on Tuesday, April 24, at St. Mary’s with an easy 9-1 win over the Blue Devils. Dylan Robert worked the mound for the Knights for 6 2/3 innings before Nate Lantz came in to get the last out and the save. Roberts the winning pitcher struck out two while walking three and giving up just three hits and one run.

The Knights had eight hits on the night with Kyle Mason leading the charge with a single, triple and an RBI. Roberts added to his own cause with a single and two runs batted in. Trent Smith also had two singles and kocked in three runs for Tyler. The Knights improved to 14-3 with the win. “We are playing with a lot of intensity and hoping it will carry over to the sectionals. These kids just continue to amaze me with their work ethic and the attitude of never giving up. Even when we’ve been down big they find a way, ” Coach Robby Jones said.
