Wildcats Drop Doubleheader
Bellaire St. John hosted Paden City in a twinbill Saturday. Game one could have gone either way but the Irish nipped the Cats 6-5 with a three-run sixth inning after Paden City took the lead in the top of the inning with two of its own. Neither team was able to score in the seventh giving St. John’s a hard fought win in the first of two. Game two turned into a one-eam affair as the Irish pounded out 5-0 win.
For Paden City Aubrey Neff took the loss in game one as the Irsih pounded out 11 hits to seven for the Cat’s. Leading the way for Paden City was Jenna Ferrebee with three singles and two RBI .Hannah Loy also added three singles. Neff got a double to account for the Cat’s batting.
Game two was all St. John’s as it pounded out a 5-0 win to drop the Wildcats to 1-4 on the season. Ferrebee again had two hits and Madaline Cox added a double.
“We have been in most games but mental mistakes and errors have cost us at least to wins. We will be working on correcting the mental errors and hopefully we can pick up a couple wins this coming week,” said coach Chris Neff. “The girls are playing hard and have good attitudes, we just have to work on some things and we’ll be all right.”
Wildcats score big over Hundred
Paden City jumped all over Hundred in a mercy rule three inning game. Veteran pitcher Aubrey Neff was on her game as she recorded five strikeouts and issued two walks to pick up her first win of the season. Neff also led the offense with two triples, a single and an RBI. Jenna Ferrebee got a single, a double and two RBI, while Ashlyn Moses drilled a single and a double knocking in three runs. Hope Cooper joined in the action with a single, double and an RBI and Shelby Gatian added two singles.
The Wildcats scored seven runs in the first and eight in the second to put the Hornets in a hole they couldn’t climb out of. The Cat’s ended the night with 13 hits and three errors.
