Keys, Cooper Earn Player of the Week Nods
Tyler Consolidated’s Brandon Keys wrestling in the 195 lb. class, had a banner day on Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Cameron tournament. He finished in second place when he fell to Fairmont Senior Abbott in overtime.
Keys got an escape and a takedown to come from behind and put the match into overtime. Keys showed a lot of heart and determination and for his efforts he has been awarded Tyler County Athlete of the week for Jan. 6, 2016.
Paden City’s Luke Cooper is this weeks other Athlete of the week. Cooper has been playing well on the basketball court and on Dec. 29 at Valley he scored 24 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to lead the Wildcats to a 59-56 win over the Lumberjacks. Cooper also went over the 1000 point mark in his career at Paden City.
He was awarded the game ball by Paden City Coach Fred King who said, ” Luke has developed into one of the better athletes Paden City has had in a long time. He plays three sports and excels in all three.”
For his achievements he has been named athlete of the week for Jan. 6, 2016.
