Knights Fall To Magnolia, 93-39

Tyler Consolidated couldn’t stop Magnolia’s relentless attack on Monday night and fell by the final score of 93-39.

The Blue Eagles wasted no time establishing their offense as they scored the games first six points off of turnovers and rolled to a 28-10 lead after one with Preston Boswell scoring 11 first quarter points.

The second quarter was all Magnolia as they outscored the Silver Knights 25-4 to take a 53-14 halftime lead. Boswell equaled his first quarter scoring with 11 in the second to have 22 at the half. The Silver Knights were playing without leading scorer Jace Reed for the second straight game. The Knights playing mostly Freshmen and Sophomores were no match for the defending state champs who caused lots of turnovers and turned them into easy buckets.

The Knights got things going a little in the third quarter but still was outscored 27-13 to enter the last frame down 80-27. Both teams used most of their players with Magnolia winning the last quarter 13-12 to come away with a big win. Boswell led all scorers with 26 despite playing a little over one half. Magnolia ended with four players in double digits. Brooks Parsons finished with 12, while Tyler Williamson and Kyle Ritz each had 10.

Leading the way for the Silver Knights was Kyle Frum and Quentin Richmond with eight each while Dylan Roberts and Griffin Phillips both had seven. The Knights next game will be a home contest against Williamstown on Jan. 5. The Lady Knights have a Home game on Jan. 4, against Hundred.


Tyler Consolidated’s boys basketball team got another win on Wednesday, Dec. 22 when the Ritchie Co. Rebels came to town. The Knights outscored the Rebels by 10 in the second half to claim the win and now stand at 2-5 on the season.

Leading the way for the Silver Knights was Dylan Roberts with 14 and five rebounds, Trent Smith with 13 and three steals while Quentin Richmond hit for 10. Down by five at the break, Tyler rallied in the second half with some key steals and some clutch free throw shooting to secure the win. Griffin Phillips and Tyler West both chipped in with eight points to help the balanced Silver Knights attack. Ritchie Co. was led by Cory Farley’s 17 and Travis Pickering who had nine boards.


The Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights made the trip to Ellenboro on Dec. 22, to take on the 4-2 Ritchie County. Rebels in girls basketball. The game went back and fourth the whole night with the Rebels finally coming out on top by three after being tied up at the end of the third quarter.

The Rebels shot 41 foul shots compared to 20 for the Knights which proved to be the difference. With the loss the Knights fell to 5-4 on the season. Leading the way for Tyler Consolidated was Sophomore Amanda Reynolds with 15 points and eight rebounds. The Knights were playing without starter Ariel Fish. Cathy Boggs club will return to action on Monday, Jan. 4, when Hundred comes to town.


The Silver Knights boys won over Ritchie 36-33 with Steven Ross leading the way by knocking in eight points. The girls JV team won over Ritchie by a score of 58-24. Autumn Wells 11 and Alexa Johnson 10 led the way for the Lady Knights..
