Paden City Boys Drop To 2-2 on the Season
Paden City dropped to 2-2 on the season when they traveled to Wheeling on Friday night to take on the Maroon Knights.
The Wildcats started out strong and kept the score close in the first quarter by holding WVU regruet Chase Harler to four points. The Maroon Knights, however, proved to have to much depth for the cat’s and took a 35-16 lead at the midway point. The third quarter spelled defeat for the Green and White as Harler took over and hit for 19 points to give the Knights a 35-10 quarter advantage.
The Wildcats were led in scoring by Luke Cooper with 17 and 9 rebounds, Aaron Heasley and Hayden Hizer each added eight points for Paden City. Coach King said tourovers were a major factor in the game and when you give a team like Central extra possessions it will hurt you. “We also missed a lot of chip shots,” said King. Central went to the line 15 times compared to Paden City’s six. Harler finished the night with 23 while Brent Price dropped in 11 to lead central.
Paden City traveled to Williamstown on Tuesday, Dec. 15 to take on the Yellow Jackets. Both teams entered the contest without a loss but Williamstown proved to be the better team on the night as they handed the Wildcats their first loss 64-42.
Paden City was led by junior guard Hayden Hizer who had 10 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Senior center Luke Cooper finished with 16 points on the night and Aaron Heasley knocked down 11. Cooper, Deven Price , Zach Yeater, Hizer and Heasley all hit three balls for the cats.
Williamstown’s Brown with however hit seven three’s and finished the night with 27 points. The Yellow Jackets hit 10 three’s overall to secure the victory. Paden City made 10-16 from the free throw line while Williamstown finished with 6-11.
