Baker, Fletcher are Tyler Players of Week
Jordan Baker, a third-year senior quarterback for the Silver Knights, put on a dazzling display on Friday, Oct. 16, against the South Harrison Hawks. Baker controlled the offense by mixing up the running attack and passing for crucial yardage. For his efforts in handing South Harrison its first loss, he has been selected as our player of the week. Baker had 54 yards on 8 carries and scored the tying touchdown in the third quarter. He also completed 5-of-11 passes for 54 yards and no interceptions. Just as impressive was his play on defense, where he came up time after time, disrupting the Hawks’ offense and accounting for five tackles.
Abbie Fletcher, a hitter on the Knights’ volleyball team, is the second Player of the Week. She has 267 kills and 165 service points so far this season. This past week, in two big wins against Doddridge and Paden City, she accounted for 17 kills, seven blocks, five digs and 10 points. Tyler won both matches against Doddridge and then upended Paden City, 25-14 and 25-16. Fletcher has led her team to a 28-13 record.
TCHS players making the honorable mention list this week were Hogan Wells, Jace Reed, Brandon Keys and Colby Lash from the football team. Alexa Johnson, a freshman volleyball player, and cross country runner Katie Pratt a freshman on the girls team, also made honorable mention.
