Dragons Burn Wildcats With 39-24 Victory

The Cameron Dragons puts up 20 points in the second period and held on for a 39-24 victory over Paden City Oct. 2 in Dragon territory.

The Dragons scored on runs of 44, 21 and five yards, while hauling in TD passes of 75, 21, 44 and 32 yards. The ‘Cats scored on a Hayden Hizer four yard scamper, with Logan Carroll crossed the goal line on a one and five yard touchdown jaunt.

The Wildcats accumulated 156 yards rushing and three touchdowns, with Hizer leading the charge with 148 yards rushing and a TD. Carroll added 10 yards on three carries, while scoring twice. Zach Yeater netted 19 markers, while Aaron Heasley netted nine yards on one tote.

Hizer was 5-of-10 for 38 yards passing, while Heasley was 9-of-22 for 80 yards. Luke Cooper hauled in nine passes for 86 yards, while Hizer caught five for 10 yards. Yeater caught one pass for 10 yards, while Heasley hauled in two for eight yards.

The Wildcats couldn’t take advantage of five Cameron turnovers, while the Dragons took advantage of one fumble and one interception.

Rander Amos had a monster game defensively for the Wildcats. He made 20 tackles, two of which went for loss of yardage. He also had a quarterback sack and recovered a fumble. Carroll made 10 tackles, one of which went for loss of yardage and had a fumble recovery. Daulton Schultheis added eight stops and forced a fumble. Kris Byers made seven tackles, while Marcus Allen dropped six. Hizer and David Joy both made five tackles.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Wildcats as they will take on once beaten Toronto Friday night at Berger Field in Paden City at 7 p.m.
