#54 Brandon Keys sacks Calhoun County Quarterback - 1st quarter action.

The Silver Knights drove the Dagger in deep, twisting, turning and cutting their way through the Calhoun County defense on Friday, as the Knights celebrated homecoming with the big victory.

The Red Devils came into the contest 4-0 and ranked 12th in class A but the Silver Knights had their way on both sides of the ball. The boys from Calhoun County had trouble all night holding on to the football as they turned it over four times on one pass interception and three fumbles. Tyler Anderson one of the states leading scorers with over 100 points in the first five games, had another banner night as he finished with four T.D.’s and a pair of conversion runs. Anderson found the end zone for 22 points and had 128 yards rushing on 14 carries while playing a little over three quarters.

Colby Lash had the big play of the night when he picked the ball from Calhoun quarterback Casy Ritchie’s hands and returned it 73 yards for six points. The Knights put the first two scores on the board in the first quarter on a pair of nine yard runs by Anderson. He tacked on both conversion runs and the score after one stood at 16-0 to the delight of a fine homecoming crowd. The second period didn’t get much better for the Red Devils as TCHS scored three more times on runs by Hogan Wells, Anderson and the fumble recovery by Lash. Calhoun put six on the board and found themselves down 36-6 at the midway mark.

Wells finished the evening with a stellar performance, running five times for 56 yards and a score while also recording nine tackles. Jace Rice in his second game back from an injury finished the night with 36 yards on eight runs and had several big hits on the defensive side from his linebacker spot. The Knights lit up the scoreboard three more times in the second half and came away with a 54-12 massacre of the now 4-1 Team from Calhoun County. Colby Buchanan scored on a 12 yard pass from Jorden Baker and Anderson tacked on a fourth quarter 16 yard run followed by a nice 17 yard scamper by Nathen Lancaster with 8:20 to play in the fourth. Baker went 7-13 passing for 12 yards and one touchdown. Receiving for the Knights was led by Anderson with two catches for 31 yards while Buchanan snagged two ball for 18 and the touchdown.

The Silver Knights return to action this Friday as they take on the River Pilots in a home contest beginning at 7 p.m.
