Softball teams play despite soggy weather

The Paden City Lady Wildcat and Tyler Consolidated Lady Knight softball teams were able to get a couple of games in last week despite the dampness of the Spring weather.

Lady Wildcats

The Lady Wildcats faced off with the Lady Dragons at Cameron on April 13, taking the loss in both ends of the double header, 10-2 and 11-1.

Amber Neff was the losing pitcher, one strike out two walks. Graeson Baker completed the battery. The ‘Cats scored two runs on four hits and committed two errors in the game. The Dragons scored 10 runs on 13 hits and had four errors.

Neff singled and doubled in the game and Baker brought two runs home.

In the second game, Aubrey Neff worked the circle for the ‘Cats, taking the loss striking out one and walking one.

At the plate, Taylor Cosper hit two singles for Paden City.

The Lady ‘Cats played at Beallsville on April 15, handing the loss to the Blue Devils, 21-5 in five innings.

Cosper was credited with the mound at the first position, striking out five and walking four.

Abby Still made the headlines for the day at the plate for the Green and White, knocking a two run homer in the first inning and collecting three RBI’s. Megan PIers doubled for two RBI’s; Hannah Stanley had one RBI; Kayla Hizer singled twice; Cosper plated three runners; Aubrey Neff had two RBI’s; Baker hit three doubles in the game and had four RBI’s; Amber Neff had two RBI’s; Tori Anderson hit a double to score two runs; and Katelyn Stewart had one RBI.

The Lady ‘Cats are scheduled to see action this week on April 22 at home with Magnolia and on April 24 at Frontier.

Lady Knights

On April 15 the Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights fell to Linsly, 9-1. The Knights scored one run on four hits and committed two errors in the game.

Sophomore Madison West worked the circle for the Silver, turning in a nice effort with five strike outs and three walks. Vanessa Templeton completed the battery.

Joralda Rice singled twice for Consolidated.

The Lady Knights are scheduled to play at Parkersburg Catholic on April 22 and will host Linsly at home on April 24.
