Lady Wildcats win over Beallsville, 13-1
The Paden City Lady Wildcats opened the 2015 softball season in New Martinsville on March 24 with the Lady Blue Eagles of Magnolia.
The Blue and Gold took their first win of the season with a 10-5 score over the ‘Cats with a couple of late inning runs to seal the deal.
Aubrey and Amber Neff worked the circle for Paden City, handing out three strike outs and walking one apiece.
Recording hits for Paden City in the game were senior Kayla Hizer with two singles and a double; senior Graeson Baker, two singles and double; and Taylor Cosper who singled twice, hit one double and scored three runs.
On March 25 the Lady Wildcats felt the sting of another loss when Bishop Donahue took the win at Paden City, 7-0.
Amber Neff took the loss in the circle, striking out two Bishop batters. Taylor Cosper came on in the fourth to walk three and strike out one.
Abby Still was the only Lady Wildcat to score a hit in the game with a double.
The Green and White recorded their first win on Monday when they played host to the Blue Devils of Beallsville, sending them back across the River with the 13-1 loss in three innings.
The ‘Cats put all of their 13 points on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second to take the win.
Aubrey Neff held down the pitchers slot in the game for the home team, striking out two batters.
Neff also highlighted the day at the plate for the Ladies in Green, hitting a home run and a single to bring in three runs.
Also getting hits for the home team on the day were Cosper with a double, one RBI and one run scored; Tori Anderson, singled, doubled, two RBI’s, two runs scored; Kayla Hizer, singled for one RBI, and a run scored; and catcher Graeson Baker, singled, doubled, brought home two runs.
The Lady ‘Cats are scheduled to play at home on April 1 vs. Frontier; April 2 at St. John; and a double header with Bridgeport at noon on April 4.
