PC’s Heasley scores 1,000
Paden City’s boys varsity basketball team is holding their own this season against some very impressive opponents. Last week the ‘Cats took on the 8-1 Bishop Donahue Bishops, and though they battled hard, Paden City fell in the end, 63-52.
Though they met defeat, the ‘Cats had several highlights in the game including senior Zach Heasley hitting his 1,000th high school career point, and two other players scoring in double digits.
Paden City led the game 10-6 at the end of the first and then the Bishops stepped up to take over and never looked back in the 63-52 win.
Heasley led all scorers in the game with 22 points. He also pulled down nine rebounds, had two steals and two assists. Kennedy Cain scored 16 points, had 13 rebounds, one steal and three assists; Luke Cooper scored 14 points, brought down 10 boards, blocked shots twice, and had two assists; Hayden Hizer, three rebounds, five assists and a steal; and Craig Allen was credited with three rebounds, one steal and three assists.
The Wildcats were scheduled to see action on Jan. 20 at home versus Beallsville; will host the WV HIT first round on Friday; and will participate in the Rotary Challenge in New Martinsville on Saturday. the ‘Cats will take on Monroe Central at 6:30 p.m. at Magnolia.
