Lady Wildcats end season at Sectional tourney

By Staff | Nov 12, 2014

The Paden City Lady Wildcat volleyball team had a very good run throughout the season, but were not able to keep the fire lit when it came time for post-season play, ending the 2014 season at the Sectional Tournament last week.

Having already been overshadowed by the Cee-Bee’s of Clay-Battelle just the week before in the regular season, the ‘Cats met up with the Blue again at the Sectional, falling to Lady Cee-Bee’s 21-25, 21-25, 25-15, and 26-24, with the ‘Cats taking only one set of four.

Paden City finished the season with an overall 27-13 record.

“We did as good as we could,” said head coach of the Green and White, Fred King. “We had four shots at them (Clay-Battelle) during the year and just couldn’t pull out a win. They’re a good team, but we thought we could have outlasted them.”

Members of the 2014 volleyball team are: Taylor Cosper, Katrina Heasley, Kameron McClain, Megan Pierce, Dezirae Middleton, Chelsea Baker, Jenna Arnett, Graeson Baker, Malayna Price, Aubrey Neff, Kallie Arnett, Madison Kelly, Cydney Blatt, Abbie Still and Jenna Ferrebee.

“We return a good bunch of kids next year who got some experience this year and that’s a plus for us,” the coach said.

King, who was selected as the OVAC Class A Volleyball coach of the Year for 2014 also announced that two Lady Wildcat players, Graeson Baker and Taylor Cosper received “all OVAC” honors. Baker will represent the team in the OVAC All-Star Volleyball game next week.
