Sectional volleyball action begins

The West Virginia High School Region I, Section II volleyball tournament is being held this week at Hundred High School, where it will be determined what two teams go forth to compete in the Region I Regional tournament on Saturday.

At Hundred, teams competing for the Sectional title are: Clay-Battelle, Hundred, Paden City, St. Marys, Tyler Consolidated and Valley.

On Monday the first round of games were played with Valley defeating Hundred in game one. Tyler Consolidated handed the loss to Valley in game two in order to advance to the Sectional finals which will be played on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Paden City was scheduled to take on St. Marys in the number three game in the bracket. Following that game, Clay-Battelle will take on the winner to determine who will face off with Tyler Consolidated on Wednesday.

The championship game will be played at Hundred High School on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Both the winner and runner-up will advance to the Regional tournament at Tyler Consolidated High School on Saturday. Games are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

At the Regional, again, both the Regional champion and the runner-up squads will advance to the state tournament held in Charleston at the Civic Center on Nov. 14-15.
