XC teams prepare for Regional competition
While preparing for the upcoming Regional, West Virginia High School cross country teams finished their regular seasons last week.
Tyler Consolidated High School’s boys and girls teams competed at the LKC Championship meet held at Mineral Wells on Oct. 16, and continued the good performances fans have come to expect from these team members all year long.
In the girls division, the Lady Knights placed seventh overall behind first place Williamstown and second place Doddridge County.
Freshman Amanda Reynolds placed first for the Lady Knights at the meet with a time of 21:25.5, and ninth overall of all competitors.
Junior Amber Watson placed 16th overall in 22:06.1, followed by team mates: freshman Kaylee Hulin, 48th, in 26:50; freshman Megan Sole, 53rd, 27:55; and junior Damara Winfrey, 61st, in 32:31.
The Silver Knight boys team placed 10th overall of the teams competing, behind first place Webster County and second place Ritchie County.
Freshman Luke Daugherty set the pace for the Silver Knight team, finishing 49th overall with a time of 20:18.2. Sophomore Kamron Milhoan finished the race in 59th position overall in 21:23.8 followed by team mates: freshman Eli Henthorn, 63rd, 22:17.2; freshman Josh Frum, 64th, 22:24; and freshman P.J. Wright, 65th, in 22:25.5.
The Silver Knight teams as well as Paden City High School’s boys and girls high school cross country teams will compete at the Region I Regional on Oct. 23 at Doddridge.
The boys portion of the race is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. with the girls starting at approximately 5:15 p.m.
Athletes will qualifying at the Regional meet will go on to represent their teams and Region at the WV High School State Cross Country meet at Cabell Midland High School on Nov. 1 at Ona, WV.
