Extra effort, hard work and willingness to work solidly together as a team, has helped the Tyler Consolidated Middle School football team do something few teams in the area have been able to do, and that is achieve an undefeated season. Coached by head coach Bob Jones and assistant coach, D.J. Cunningham, the Middle School Silver Knights stand at 7-0 at this point of their season with but one game to play.

The young Knights have seen some very good competition this year at their level, but have managed to pull out the win every single time: at River, the Knights took the win 48-12; when they played Williamstown at home, Tyler Consolidated edged them out for the 13-6 win; against Doddridge, the Knights dominated, 42-18; at Paden City the Silver’s advantage was 27-6; at Pleasants County the score was in the favor of TCMS, 36-6; when Parkersburg Catholic came to town, the Knights handled them 30-6; and last week at New Martinsville, it was all Silver Knights to the tune of 27-6.

The team will play their last regular game of the season on Oct. 23 at Ritchie County and hope to have their large fan base follow them and support them in their effort. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

“The team has shown improvement week to week all season,” said Cunningham. “The boys have worked hard so far this year and are working even harder trying to earn that complete undefeated season.”
