The Lady Knight varsity soccer team at Tyler Consolidated dealt with a couple of rough games last week, but came out of both more confident in their own team and abilities.

The Ladies in Silver and Black fell to the Lady Huskies at North Marion, 14-0, on Sept. 6. In goal for Consolidated, Vanessa Templeton had 11 saves on the day while back-up keeper, Madison Kissner, had one save.

“There’s just not a whole lot to say about this game,” said head coach of the Lady Knights, Matt Kinnard. “They took 19 shots in the first half. Our girls played hard, they never quit, not one time. I think our maturity really showed in this game. I was proud of the attitudes of our young ladies.”

On Sept. 9 the Lady Knights took the loss 3-0 at the hands of Steubenville, losing a couple of players to injury during the contest.

“Again, our girls played hard,” said the coach. “We had more shots on goal, we’re getting better, understanding things more. There’s just a certain element of aggressive play we just don’t have yet, but we’re a work in progress.”

Templeton was credited with 13 saves in goal.

Tyler Consolidated’s ladies were scheduled to play at Trinity on Tuesday. They will host Wheeling Central at home on Sept. 11; and travel to Ravenswood on Saturday with the game beginning at 11 a.m.
