WV Power to host benefit
The West Virginia Power, the Single A Affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will host the seventh annual Purple Power Night in support of pancreatic cancer awareness on July 31 at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, W.Va. On that night, the Power will purple jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting pancreatic cancer research.
During the evening, a special video presentation will be made in tribute to all those engaged in the fight against pancreatic cancer and all those lost to the terrible disease. To have a picture included, contact Annette Fetty-Santilli at 304-621-3648 or email@example.com.
Tickets for the game are $7 each. For each ticket purchased in advance, half the proceeds will be donated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Tickets may be purchased by contacting Annette Fetty-Santilli at 304-621-3648.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States and is expected to rise to the second leading cause by 2020. Pancreatic cancer is one of the nation’s deadliest cancers with a five-year survival rate of just six percent.
In 2014, an estimated 46,420 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the United States, and approximately 39,590 will die from the disease.
