Baseball teams continue seasons

By Staff | May 7, 2014

Tyler Consolidated and Paden City High School varsity baseball teams are finishing up the 2014 season this week and will begin Sectional play next week.

The Silver Knights were able to get two games in in-between the raindrops last week, taking the loss in both instances.

The Knights fell to Frontier 8-4 on May 2 and to Williamstown, 13-0.

Tyler Stackpole, Isaac Michael, and Nate Lantz all singled for the Silver and Black against Frontier.

Williamstown pushed a 4-0 lead all the way out to 13-0 in the 7th and final inning at the Knights senior day when seniors Evan Davis and Isaac Michael were recognized. Both seniors had singles on the day. A good starting effort by Jordan Baker on the mound was not taken advantage of as the Yellow Jackets were able to capitalize on a few Knights fielding miscues in the last inning to push across nine runs in the final inning.

The Silver were expected to play at Valley on Tuesday and at an LKC placement game on Thursday.

Tyler Consolidated will begin Sectionals on May 12 at St. Marys. Teams in the Section tournament include the Knights, St. Marys and Valley.

The Paden City Wildcats were unable to get a game in last week but hope to finish with a win or two this week as they take on St. Marys and Magnolia. The Wildcats will begin Sectional play at Magnolia on May 15 with Magnolia and Cameron in the Sectional tournament.
