Senior members of the 2014 Tyler Consolidated High School Track team

The season is quickly dwindling down to the last few meets for high school track and field teams. Regionals will be held at Lewis County High School on May 14 and the state meet in Charleston on May 23-24.

The Tyler Consolidated girls’ team placed first overall at the Wetzel Tyler Track League meet held on April 22 at Knight Stadium. The Lady Knights scored 126 points to take the top spot over Ritchie County with 115 points; Magnolia, 108; River, 91; Paden City, 50; and Cameron, 45.

The Rebels of Ritchie County took the boys division overall win with 159.50 points. They were followed in order by Magnolia, 104.50; Cameron, 76; Tyler Consolidated, 74; River, 69; and Paden City with 56 points.

Both Paden City and Tyler Consolidated track teams participated at the Rush Invitational Meet at Clay-Battelle. Of the 12 teams competing in the girls division, Tyler Consolidated placed fourth overall and Paden City, ninth. The Ladies representing Bridgeport High School took the overall win, scoring 109 team points. Morgantown placed second with 94 points, followed by North Marion with 94; Tyler Consolidated, 58; Wheeling Central, 40; University, 37; Clay-Battelle, 36; Trinity Chrisitan, 30; Paden City, 19; Magnolia, 17; Grafton, 13 and Valley, 11.

In the boys division, the Silver Knights placed seventh overall with the Wildcats coming in 8th. Morgantown High School took the top spot with 154 points; Bridgeport scored 126 for second; Grafton, 66.50; University, 52; North Marion, 36.50; Clay-Battelle, 27; Tyler Consolidated, 19; Paden City, 18; Magnolia, 17; Wheeling Central, 17; Valley, 14; Trinity Chrisitan, nine; and Hundred High School, two points.

Both Paden City and Tyler Consolidated were scheduled to participate in the last WTTL meet of the year at Magnolia on April 29. The Knights will take part in the Gazette Relays in Charleston on May 2-3 and at the LKC meet at Williamstown on May 9. The Wildcat track teams will compete at the OVAC’s in St. Clairsville, May 6-10.
