With weather issues making it difficult to get an entire week of baseball games in, the Paden City Wildcats and Tyler Consolidated Knights are playing when and where they can.

Wildcats

On March 31 the Wildcats hosted a double header, but with two different teams.

The ‘Cats got a nice win in the first game of the evening, 11-4 over Beallsville, getting 10 hits and playing error free. Junior Zach Heasley got the win on the mound for the Green and White, going four innings, striking out two and walking one. Levi Meadows took over for an inning striking out two.

Offensively for Paden City, Isaac Hall hit three singles to bring home one run. Meadows hit two singles and had one RBI; Michael Wilcox singled twice for one RBI; Luke Cooper knocked a single and a double to collect one RBI; Hayden Hizer singed for one RBI; and Heasley helped out his own cause with a double to score two.

In the second game of the evening, the Wildcats did not fare as well, taking the loss, 14-0, with the six errors made by the team telling the story of the game. Though they were not able to capitalize with runs scored, Paden City had four hits courtesy of Hizer, Meadows, Hall and Heasley.

Hall took the loss on the mound for the home team, throwing five strike outs and two walks; Kyle Postlethwait went in for one inning, issuing two walks.

Though rain threatened to hinder their progress, the ‘Cats got a game in on Saturday with Parkersburg Catholic at Paden City. The Crusaders took advantage of a tough day on the mound for the Wildcats, handing the home team the defeat, 10-5.

Luke Cooper started in the first position for the Green, walking four. Hall came on for two innings, striking out two and walking eight; Meadows finished up on the mound for two innings, throwing a striking out and issuing two walks.

“We just had a difficult day on the mound,” said Wildcat head coach, Brent Croasmun. “Parkersburg only had three hits in the game, and we defended well.”

At the plate, Cooper hit a single and homered to drive home three runs; and Hizer, Meadows, Heasley and Andrew Dennis each hit singles in the effort.

Paden City was scheduled to host St. Johns on Monday; on Wednesday, the team will travel to Beallsville; Thursday will see the team host a double header with the Hundred Hornets at home; and Saturday the team will head to Ohio to take on the Frontier Cougars in their second double header of the week.

Knights

The Silver Knights are sitting at three wins and four losses on the season thus far this year, but look to change those numbers to more positive ones here in the next few weeks as the team gains game experience.

On April 1 the Knights hosted the Rebels of Ritchie County, taking the loss 16-5. Logan Moffitt took the loss on the mound with two strikeouts and a walk. Evan Davis took over the pitching job for the last three innings, walking three and sitting three down with K’s.

At the plate, Davis went 2-3 with the bat, collecting an RBI; Jordan Baker singled, scored two runs and stole two bases; and Austin Thompson singled for an RBI.

The Knights traveled to Parkersburg Catholic on April 3, falling to the Crusaders, 12-0. Baker took the loss on the mound and Kole Starkey was the lone hitter with a single, for the Silver.

The Knights are scheduled to host South Harrison on Thursday and St. Johns on Friday.
