Like every other winter sport taking place at this time of the year, the wrestling programs at Tyler Consolidated high and middle school have felt the impact of cancellations, postponements, scheduling and rescheduling, but have managed to get in a few matches.
Coached by Chad Snider and Steven Blake, both teams are gaining experience as their seasons continue.
On Jan. 4 the middle school team traveled to the Elite Sports Center in Parkersburg to compete at the Jr. LKC Wrestling Championships, and came away with a top five finish.
At the tournament, the Silver Knight middle school team placed third overall, just behind Ravenswood and South Harrison. Named to the all-tournament team from the Consolidated wrestlers were: Coy Hassenmeyer (116 lbs.); Mike Doyle (123 lbs.); and Logan Highley (128 lbs.).
No recent statistics were available for the Silver Knight high school wrestling team at press time, but a home match is scheduled for Jan. 8. The middle school match this week has been postponed due to the weather and no school.

The Silver Knight grapplers will be hitting the practice mats this week and next week in order to prepare for the always popular OVAC tournament coming up on Jan. 16-18 in Wheeling at the WesBanco arena.
