Lady ‘Cats win over Park

With their win/loss record now standing at 17-12 in the season, the Paden City Lady Wildcat volleyball team has seen some tough competition in the last few weeks.
The front line players on the team continue to step up their level of play and the experience gained by the sophomores on the team is evident by their stats.
The ‘Cats faced four opponents last week, meeting defeat only once.
On Oct. 16 the Lady Wildcats traveled to Clay-Battelle to take on the Cee-Bees and Trinity Christian. Against the Lady Cee-Bee’s, the Green and White won two of three sets, 25-20, 25-27 and 25-13.
Earning points from the serving line for the ‘Cats were senior Myah Charkawi who served 16 points (two aces); junior Graeson Baker scored 15 points (four aces); sophomore Cydney Blatt served 14 points (two aces); Taylor Cosper, 11 points (two aces); Haley Hizer, 11 points (four aces); Megan Pierce, eight points (one ace). Hizer also contributed two blocks, two digs and nine kills; Pierce, two blocks, one dig, five kills; Kallie Arnett, two blocks, two kills; Cosper, three digs; Dezirae Middleton, one dig, one kill; Baker, one dig, eight kills; Charkawi, two kills; and Blatt, six kills.
Against Trinity Christian Paden City won two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-9.
Serving points were earned by Blatt who led the Ladies in the Green and White with 17 from the line including four aces.
Baker added 11 points (three aces) and was credited with four kills; Cosper scored eight points (two aces) and had one dig; Charkawi, five points (two aces), one kill, one dig; Pierce, five points (one ace), six kills, two digs and two blocks; Hizer, four points (one ace), three kills, one dig and two blocks; and Arnett, two kills, two blocks.
Paden City played host to Wheeling Park and Wood County Christian on Oct. 17 at Bob Burton Gymnasium.
The ‘Cats defeated the Lady Patriots in two of three sets, 25-18, 6-25 and 27-25.
Cosper and Pierce led in scoring points from the serving line for the Green and White with 13 points and one ace apiece. Cosper also added a dig to the mix while Pierce had six blocks and five kills in the effort. Baker added her own nine points (one ace) and had seven kills; Charkawi, eight points (one ace), one kill and 11 digs; Blatt, eight points (one ace), four blocks and three kills; Hizer, seven points, six blocks and five kills; Arnett, four blocks, one kill; and Middleton was credited with one dig.
Against Wood County Christian, the home team had their work cut out for them, but wound up meeting defeat to the tune of 25-9 and 25-13.
Pierce scored six points had two blocks and six kills in the contest for Paden City. Cosper scored three points; Charkawi added three points and totalled four digs; Blatt, three points, two blocks, one kill; Chelseas Baker, one point; Hizer, two points, two digs and four kills; Middleton, one dig; and Arnett had two blocks.
The Lady ‘Cats hosted John Marshall and Tyler Consolidated on Tuesday and will play host to St. Marys on Wednesday at Bob Burton Gymnasium.
