Lady Wildcats win over ‘Jills and Irish

The Lady Wildcat volleyball team at Paden City High School were busy last week with four matches played. The team continues to collect wins here in the early part of the season amassing a record of 9-4 thus far.

On Sept. 16 at Bridgeport, the Lady ‘Cats took the match to four sets, only winning one of the four though, 23-25, 25-18, 17-25 and 13-25.

Leading all serving points earned in the game, Haley Hizer scored 26 at the line, four aces; Megan Pierce (one ace) and Taylor Cosper (two aces) with 13 apiece; Cydney Blatt, 11; Graeson Baker, nine; and Myah Charkawi, three.

Blatt was credited with 13 kills and one dig in the contest; Hizer had seven kills and two blocks; Kallie Arnett had seven kills, six blocks; Pierce, seven kills; Charkawi, eight kills, five digs; Baker, two kills, one block, three digs; Cosper, two kills, one dig; Dezirae Middleton, one dig; and Abbi Still, two digs.

At Cameron on Sept. 17, Paden City felled the Lady Dragons in two sets, 25-15 and 25-14.

Cydney Blatt led all scoring for the Lady Wildcats at the serving line with 16 points (three aces). She also had four kills. Baker added 12 points at the line (three aces) and had four kills; Hizer, eight points (one ace), three kills; Pierce, six points (one ace), six kills; Cosper, five points, 30 sets and 11 assists; Charkawi, three points (two aces), one assist, three digs; and Arnett was credited with one kill, two blocks.

Participating in a triangular at Valley on Sept. 19, the Green and White won both of their contests.

Against the Lumber Jills, the Lady ‘Cats took the win in two sets, 25-18 and 25-15.

Hizer led Paden City in the scoring department with 13 points from the line (three aces), four kills and two digs. Pierce contributed nine points (one ace), two kills and two blocks; Baker, nine points, two kills, two digs; Charkawi, nine points (three aces) one kill, one dig; Blatt, nine points, seven kills; Cosper, four points (three aces), one dig, 36 sets and 13 assists; Chelsea Baker scored one point; Kelly Madison, one ace; and Still, one dig.

Paden City also played to a win over Clarksburg Notre Dame in two sets, 25-3 and 25-16.

Taylor Cosper was on fire for the Lady ‘Cats, serving 23 points (five aces) at the line, getting two kills, two digs, 33 sets and 19 assists in the game. Hizer, nine points (two aces), five kills, one dig; Pierce served up eight points (two aces), one kill and two blocks; Charkawi, five points (three for aces), three digs; Blatt, three points, three kills, one dig; Arnett, 10 kills, one dig.

The Lady Wildcats hosted Bridgeport on Monday and will play at Linsly on Sept. 26.
