Scramble to benefit youth league

A 4-man golf scramble benefitting the Tycon Knights Youth League will be held at the Sistersville Country Club on June 8 and will begin with a shot-gun start at 1 p.m. A lasagna dinner will be served, door prizes will be available and beverages will be provided.

First, second and third places awarded, 50/50, and skill games to be played. The cost to play is $200 per team, and teams must be registered by June 4. Call Eric Mason at 304-771-4132 for more information.

Cheerleaders host Spirit Camp

The Tyler Consolidated High School cheerleaders will be hosting the 2013 Knights Spirit Camp on June 12, 13 and 14 from 9 a.m. to noon in the school gymnasium for campers ages four and up. Each will receive a Spirit Camp T-shirt and be provided lunch each day.

The cost per camper is $35. A cheer, dance, sidelines, and tumbling and stunting skills will be taught.

All participants will be invited to perform before the first home Silver Knight varsity football game.

Church leaugue to begin at CC

A church league will be starting at the Sistersville Country Club. The league is open to all members of churches in Tyler and Wetzel and Monroe Counties. Players do not need to be a member of the Sistersville Country Club to play.

Play will begin on June 10, with a practice round on June 3, free for participants after 4 p.m.

Play Monday’s, evening preferably, nine holds; men – white tees; seniors – gold tees; ladies – red tees.

There will be an end of summer tournament with a rotating trophy going to the church with the low average. For more information or to sign up, call 304-652-3005.

Youth BB camp is announced

A youth basketball camp will be held at Tyler Consolidated High School June 17-19 from 9 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. daily, with free lunch served to all campers every day.

Registration for the camp for boys and girls in grades K-7 will begin at 8:30 a.m.

This will be an instructional skills camp sponsored and directed by the Silver Knight boys basketball team. Campers will be instructed in dribbling, ball handling skills, drills, shooting techniques and team work.

The fee for the camp will be $25 and each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. For more information contact coach J.C. Kimble at 304-758-9000 ext. 193.

Club offers spirit signs

The Touchdown Club is selling 18″x24″ yard signs for $6 each. The signs will have general school spirit statements and will not focus on any one sport. The club’s goal is to sell 300 signs but we would love to sell more. Orders due May 31.

Knights hold Jr. golf camp

The Tyler Consolidated High School Knights Golf team and Sistersville Country Club will host a Knights Junior Golf Camp for boys and girls entering grades three through eight this fall, on June 17-18-19, 2013, from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Country Club.

The director will be Joe Griffith, Silver Knight Golf Coach, assisted by members of the Knight golf team and members of Sistersville Country Club.

Instruction will include an introduction to the game of golf, instruction in various shots involved in a round of golf, and an introduction to the rules and etiquette of golf.

For their $25 registration fee, each student will also receive a camp T-shirt, a rules booklet, a bag of tees and a sleeve of golf balls. To be assured of a proper T-shirt size, please register before June 6.

Knights go Catfishin’

The Tyler Consolidated Silver Knight football team will be hosting a unique fundraiser this year in the form of a catfishing tournament in Sistersville, on the Ohio River on June 29 from 5 p.m. – midnight.

The cost to enter the tournament is $10 per person, and anyone fishing must have a legal WV fishing license and may fish the Ohio River up to the first riffle on the river’s tributaries.

Persons entering the tournament must check in at the City Park by 5 p.m. at the Virgil Ash Shelter. The weigh-in will begin at 11 p.m. and end at midnight. Those wishing to participate must register and pay the fee of $10 by calling either Ryan Walton at 304-771-0372, Robby Jones at 304-758-0345, or Bob West at 304-771-4875.

The deadline to register is June, 26.

Sports physicals are offered

Sistersville General Hospital will provide physicals for students at Tyler Consolidated Middle and High School students on June 6 at 10 a.m. at the school (park in the back).

The fee for the physicals is $10 per student. Athletes are reminded that they must have a physical and proof of insurance prior to starting practice in order to participate in any sport at the school.
