Lady K’s celebrate seniors
The Lady Knights have had a rough season with plenty of ups and downs keeping members of the team, as well as new head coach Samantha Livingston, on their toes in order to keep up with more experienced opponents. The team was very busy week last week, with four games played including an LKC placement contest. Unfortunately, the Silver and Black came up on the short end of every score but put up the good fight in every contest.
Against Valley, junior Devinn Moore worked the circle and was relieved by sister Jasmine halfway through. The two Moore’s team work was not enough to get the win though as the Lumber Jills took the win, 8-5. Junior Alex Bubenchik hit two doubles.
Williamstown handed the Lady Knights the loss on April 23, 17-7. The Consolidated team saw some success at the plate in the game with Bubenchik and Bailey Smith placing two singles apiece. Senior Martina Parrish smacked a double and a triple at the plate and Kali Shanabarger and Devinn Moore each contributed singles.
On April 24 the Lady Knights played host to the River Pilots in their final home game of the season, taking the loss 8-2.
Parrish celebrated her senior night with a well placed triple while Bubenchik singled twice to put Knight runs on the scoreboard. Lilli Orr, Alexis Smith, Shanabarger and Devinn Moore each singled.
Against Clay County, the Knights fell 16-4 on April 25. Devinn Moore went two for three at the plate with singles and Shandi Long doubled.
The Lady Knights began Sectional play on Tuesday at home against Valley. The loser of this first game will play against St. Marys in the second game.
The Lady Devils are the number one seed in the Section, while the Lady Knights are the number two seed and the Valley Lumber Jills, three.
The tournament will continue at Tyler Consolidated on Wednesday.
