While it has not exactly been baseball weather, the Paden City Wildcats have managed to complete at least a few games on their schedule. With their season record now standing at 4-2, the ‘Cats look to add to the win column while gaining some experience for their freshman-laden roster.

At Beallsville on March 30, the Green and White came up short in both games against the Blue Devils.

In the first game, though the ‘Cats gave them a game worth remembering, a seventh inning home run by the home team secured the win for them, 5-4.

Freshman Luke Cooper worked the mound for the Wildcats in the game, putting fourth a fine effort with nine strike outs and five walks.

Offensively, Craig Allen singled twice and knocked in a run; Cooper doubled and singled for one RBI; Michael Wilcox hit two singles and collected one RBI; and Logan Carroll hit two singles.

In the second game, Paden City fell to the Devils again, this time, 5-0 at the hands of Beallsville’s crafty Logan Nippert who struckout 17 Wildcat batters, mainly courtesy of the curveball.

On Monday the ‘Cats took on the Irish of St. John Central in an early afternoon game, with the home team taking the win, 12-8.

Isaac Hall got the win on the mound in the game with eight strike outs and three walks. Levi Meadows came on in relief for the last two innings, striking out one batter.

At bat, Deven Price singled for one RBI; Meadows hit a double and two singles for two RBI’s; Allen singled and brought home three runners; Zach Heasley hit a home run scoring two runs; Cooper hit three singles; Hall, doubled; Andrew Dennis hit one single and Tyler Stackpole hit a single.

In their second game of the day, Paden City took on Wood County Christian, handing the visitors the loss, 18-3.

Sophomore Zach Heasley got the win at the pitcher’s position, throwing two strike outs and four walks. Andrew Dennis came on in relief, striking out two and walking one.

At the plate, almost everyone on the team made the highlight reel: Price, three singles, one RBI; Meadows, one double, one single, three RBI’s; Allen, two singles, one RBI; Heasley, one double, one triple, two singles, three RBI’s; Cooper, one single, one double, two RBI’s; Wilcox, two singles, two RBI’s; Hall, one double; Dennies, one single four RBI’s; and Stackpole, one single, one RBI.

The Wildcats will have a few days off to enjoy their spring break before they host Frontier on Saturday at noon.
