Both the Paden City Lady Wildcats and Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights are working to get games in before holiday breaks come into play. Each team played on the road last week, and fell to their opponents.

Lady Wildcats

On Dec. 4, the Lady Wildcats of Paden City traveled to Hundred for a game with the Lady Hornets, and found themselves returning home with the 47-29 loss to their hosts.

Hundred jumped out to a 11-4 lead after one period of play and went into the half time break, 21-9, before the cold shooting Wildcats tallied double-digit scoring in the third period.

“We shot seven percent from the floor on 7-89 shots, including 7-29 from the charity stripe and you don’t win games shooting like that,” said Paden City head coach Kelly Sine. Junior Myah Charkawi led the Ladies in Green and White in scoring with a 14 points. She also pulled down 10 boards for her third double-double of the season in four games played. Senior Logan Cosper sank two three point buckets, while Taylor Cosper tallied five markers. Kayla Barker netted a deuce, while making four steals and dishing out three assists. Kayla Hizer and Cydney Blatt each sank a free throw.

After an away game with Cameron Dec. 11, Paden City will travel to East Richland on Dec. 14 with the varsity tip getting underway at 6 p.m.

Lady Knights

On Dec. 4 at Williamstown, the Lady Knights put up quite the battle, but were not able to stave off the Lady Jackets as the home team took the win, 81-72. The real story of the game was the 79 turnovers by both teams, 40 by Consolidated and 39 by Williamstown.

The Maroon scored 20 points in each of the first two periods of play while holding the Knights to 30, but still within winning distance. In the third, the Silver picked up the pace and found the net more often than not, outscoring their hosts 22-14 and coming to within two of knotting the score. Williamstown came on strong in the fourth, however, eventually taking the win.

The Silver Knights were led by juniors Sophie Kinnard and Sydney Reed who put up 27 and 21 points respectively. Kinnard also brought down nine rebounds, had three assists and five steals while Reed had four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Allison Wable scored seven points for the team, pulled down 11 rebounds, had three assists and four steals; Torrye Cline, nine points, five assists and seven steals; Megan Carpenter, eight points, five rebounds, two steals; and Hillary Casteel was credited with eight rebounds and one assist.

The Lady Knights will host Doddridge at home on Dec. 18 and play at Bishop Donahue on Dec. 20.
