Deer season opens in Tyler County

At the Wildlife checking stations reporting in Tyler County, 485 deer were checked in on the first day of the 2012 gun season. This number is slightly up from last years total of 472 on the first day.

Checking stations reporting first day totals in Tyler County include: Meadville Mall, Friendly, 87; NAPA Morgan’s Auto Parts, Sistersville, five; Par Mar Store #8, Middlebourne, 85; Par Mar Store #10, Sistersville, 53; Main Street Quick Stop, Middlebourne, 50; Blue Marathon, Blue, 164; and Tyler Outdoor Supply41.

Hunters are reminded that all deer must be field tagged and checked within 72 hours of the time of kill or within 24 hours of the close of the season, whichever comes first.

Additional deer may not be taken until all previously taken deer have been checked.
