Girls summer games begin
Tyler Consolidated High School is hosting a Girls High School and Middle School Basketball Summer League from May 29 – June 28.
In the first game of the Summer League, the St. Marys Gold beat Paden City, 52-15; St Marys Purple scored a 60-25 victory over Magnolia; and in the last game of the night Tyler Consolidated defeated Hundred, 48-17.
Other than these teams, Valley High School will also participate, with one team taking a game off each game night. Games will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the last game is scheduled for about 7:30 p.m.
On May 31, the St Marys Gold handed the loss to Hundred 72-6, while the St Marys Purple got the better of Paden City, 45-20. In the last game of the night Tyler Consolidated held off a gallant Magnolia rally to claim a hard-fought 40-38 overtime victory.
Area schools are trying to save money and Tyler Consolidated are doing its part to help schools save money by giving local high schools and middle schools a chance to play during the summer, and not having their parents drive to Wheeling or Parkersburg for teams to compete.
“Our goal is to make summer basketball available to any team wanting to play, while helping the girls develop their skills.” said Matt Kinnard of Tyler Consolidated.
All high school and middle school games are played on Tuesday and Thursday nights at Tyler Consolidated starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at approximately 8:30 p.m.
The junior high league is scheduled to start the second week of June.
