It was a good outing for the Tyler Consolidated Middle School track teams on April 28 as they traveled to Williamstown to participate in the large Yellow Jacket Middle School Invitational.

Both teams representing Tyler Consolidated turned in some excellent performances, with the girls placing second in the large field of competitiors and the boys taking third in their division.

Doddridge County Middle School girls’ team took first place in the team competition among the young ladies, scoring 198 points. The Lady Knights placed second with 122; followed by Mountaineer Middle, with 86; Williamstown, 60; McKinley, 46; Marietta St. Marys, 20; Ritchie County, 12; and Blennerhassett, six points.

In the boys division, Williamstown placed first overall in the team competition with 141 points, followed by Ritchie County, 119; Tyler Consolidated, 83; Doddridge, 77; Mountaineer, 60; McKinley, 56; and Marietta St. Marys, eight points.

“Our kids did very well at this meet,” said girls’ head track coach, Richard Long. “We’ve got a great group of young people to work with this year and they’ve continued to improve throughout the season. This was a large meet for us, but our kids did not fold under pressure, in fact, just the opposite.”

Several young Knights and Lady Knights placed first in their competitions, highlighting their performances at the meet.

Sydney Glover not only placed first in the 100 meter dash and high jump, but broke school records in each with a time of 13.54 and a jump of 4-10. She also took first place in the 200 meter dash and was a part of the 4×100 relay for Consolidated, which also placed first.

The Lady Knight 4×200 relay team also placed first at the meet, defeating the field in 2:02.03.

Jordan Baker took first place in the long jump at the meet with a jump of 16-05.50

The boys 4×100 relay team took first place with a time of 52.52; the 4×200 relay team placed first with a time of 1:49.91; and the shuttle relay team placed first overall at the meet with a time of 43.33
