‘Cats take three wins

Paden City’s Lady Wildcats were able to get both games of a double header in despite the threat of rain on April 28 at home when they hosted Jefferson County Christian High School. The ladies in Green and White came away with both wins for the afternoon, 9-0 and 12-4.

In the first game, the Lady ‘Cats steadily added runs to their side of the scoreboard, with one in the first,m two in the second and six in the third to take the win. Paden City scored their nine runs on nine hits and were accountable for no errors while Jefferson County had two hits and committed two errors in the game.

Junior ace pitcher, Kelsey Loy, worked the circle for the home team, walking four batters and striking out seven. Amber Neff also took a turn at the first position, walking one and striking out one.

Offensively, Tori Anderson singled twice to bring home one run; Megan Pierce singled for an RBI; Amber Neff hit one single to collect one RBI; Hannah Stanley ingled and had one RBI; and Dominique Craft hit two singles for two RBI’s.

In the second game, Loy controlled the game from the pitcher’s position again, walking three and striking out three. The Lady ‘Cats scored 12 runs on 11 hits and had two errors in the game to Jefferson’s four runs on four hits and four errors.

At the plate, Anderson singled twice; Pierce hit two singles; Graeson Baker hit a single for two RBI’s; Neff hit three singles to bring home three runs; Loy singled for three RBI’s; and Hailey Wade singled for an RBI.

The two wins puts the Lady Wildcat win loss record at 6-17 to end the 2012 season.

The team began Region I, Section Two play on Monday at Cameron, where they faced off with the Valley Lumber Jills in the second game of the tournament. The Ladies in Green pocketed the win in five innings, 11-1 to get to the next round. Paden City plated six runners in the first three innings on their way to the win.

Loy worked the first position for the ‘Cats, issuing one walk and seven strike outs. Craft completed the battery.

Tori Anderson singled and doubled to collect one RBI; Baker singled twice; Neff hit two singles for two RBI’s.

Loy singled for an RBI; and Katie Shreves brought home a runner.

In the first game of the evening at the Sectional, host Cameron defeated Valley 22-0.

The Lady Wildcats were to face off with the Lady Dragons in the double elimination tournament on Tuesday at Cameron.
