Wildcats meet defeat twice

By Staff | Apr 25, 2012

Time in the 2012 season is short for the Paden City Wildcat baseball team, who have but a few games remaining in order to add to their win/loss record.

Last week, the ‘Cats faced off with two teams, the Valley Lumberjacks and Parkersburg Catholic, taking the loss in both outings.

At Valley on April 16, the Green and White had their chance to get the win, but fell 4-3 to their hosts.

Freshman Zach Heasley took the loss on the mound for the ‘Cats, walking seven batters and striking out four.

Getting hits for the team were Matt Barker, who doubled and brought home one run; Heasley singled for an RBI; Jared Stewart singled for an RBI; and Craig Allen singled.

On April 18, Paden City hosted the Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders, and met defeat, 15-0. Paden City had two hits in the game and committed five errors. Heasley singled and Jamie Billiter doubled for the home team.

Levi Meadows pitched four innings for Paden City, walking one and striking out three.

“We gave up nine runs early, and just couldn’t bounce back,” said head coach of the team, Brent Croasmun. “They were a very good team.”

The Wildcats will host Jefferson County Christian on Saturday in a double header.
