The Tyler Consolidated Lady Knights put in a busy week last week with five games played, and coming out with a win in one.

“We’re trying so hard to be patient,” said head coach of the team, Charlene Galluzzo. “We’re younger than we seem, younger than people perceive us to be and sometimes that hurts us. But, we haven’t give up yet and we’re not backing down.”

Parkersburg Catholic came to Tyler County on March 26 and returned to Wood County with the 3-2 win after edging out the Lady Knights at home.

Catholic went up 2-0 after the first two innings, allowing the Silver to only plate one runner in the bottom of the fifth.

Jasmine Moore held down the pitcher’s slot for the home team, striking out four batters and walking one.

Alex Bubenchik was credited with one single in the game and one RBI.

The Lady Bulldogs came to play at Knight Field on March 27, getting the win in a big way over the Lady Knights, 17-3.

The home team scored their three runs on eight hits and committed eight errors when all was said and done. The ‘Dogs put seven runs on the scoreboard in the both the second and fourth innings to put paid to the game in five innings.

Three pitchers were utilized by the Silver: Devinn Moore threw one inning, giving up five hits; Cline pitched two innings, striking out two, walking four and giving up four hits; and Jasmine Moore threw one inning, striking out one.

In the hitting department, Bubenchik singled twice; Martina Parrish singled for two RBI’s; Jasmine Moore hit two singles; Jennifer Yost, Megan Carpenter and Taylor Clem each singled.

On March 28 the Ladies in Silver traveled to New Martinsville to do battle with the Lady Eagles of Magnolia.

With the home team getting off to a nine-0 two inning start, the Eagles wound up with the win, 10-0, keeping the Knights hitless in five.

Sophomore Jasmine Moore worked the circle for the Silver, walking one batter.

At Doddridge on March 29, the Ladies in Silver and Black held their own throughout the game, but could not overcome a two run deficit in the end, taking the loss, 4-2.

The Knights scored their two runs on six hits and committed four errors in the contest.

Gaining hits for Consolidated were: Taylor Clem, going three of three on the day, with two singles and one double; Alex Bubenchik, Myah Charkawi and Jasmine Moore each singled in the effort.

Junior Torrye Cline was in the first position for Galluzzo’s team, striking out three and walking four.

Tyler Consolidated’s ladies picked up their win of the week on March 30 when they played host to Williamstown at Knight field. The two teams played scoreless until the bottom of the fourth when the Silver plated three runners to take the lead. In the fifth, the Lady Jackets made some noise with a run of their own, but were answered with three more Knight runs. The Lady Knights finally wrapped up the win, 8-3 in seven on 11 hits.

Cline again was in the circle for the home team, walking five batters, striking out three and giving up eight hits.

At the plate, senior Jennifer Yost knocked two singles and was credited with a stolen base; Bubenchik singled and scored two runs; Charkawi hit two singles and scored; Cline scored three times in the game; Jasmine Moore hit two singles and a double to collect two RBI’s and scored a run; Clem hit two singles, brought a runner home and scored a run herself; and Martina Parrish earned an RBI.

The Lady Knights will play at Paden City on April 4 at 3 p.m. On April 5 the team is scheduled to play at St. marys at 1 p.m. and will host Paden City and River both on April 12.
