Longbeards host Superfund

By Staff | Feb 29, 2012

The Middle Island Longbeards chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will be hosting their 14th Annual Hunting Heritage/Superfund banquet on March 10 at the Momentive Performance Materials-Park Training Facility, in Bens Run.

Doors are scheduled to open at 5 p.m. for the event, with a social hour, followed by dinner catered by The Fort at 6:30 p.m.

A silent and live auction will be held along with raffles and games to generate Superfund dollars for wildlife conservation. All donations are tax deductible and social friendly for businesses. Ninety-two cents of every dollar is used for conservation projects. Superfund dollars raised in West Virginia are spent in West Virginia, and with help from interested individuals and businesses, the one million dollar mark should be reached this year.

Many accomplishments have been realized here locally, such as: Wildlife Habitat improvements (benefiting both game and non-game species); Conservation Scholarships, Education boxes in the schools; Women in the Outdoors events; land purchases; improvements on Wildlife Management Areas (including accessibility for disabled persons and investments in the area’s local youth, through award winning J.A.K.E.S. events).

The Middle Island Longbeards chapter offers their appreciation to every individual and/or business who has contributed to their cause in the past. For any one or any business interested in joining the group in raising Superfund dollars for conservation, there are several options: NWTF Sponsor membership; underwriting an item on the silent or live auction; corporate tables reserved; group tables; attending banquet as a regular member and buying NWTF merchandise to decorate homes or offices as well as enjoying dinner, games and raffles while raising funds for conservation.

Those interested can also underwrite J.A.K.E.S. memberships, to sponsor children ages 17 and under (tax-deductible).
