Tyler Speedway to present awards at banquet

With another stellar racing campaign in the books at the ‘bullring’ race officials have set details for the annual Tyler County Speedway Champions Awards Banquet and Pre-season Kickoff Party slated for Jan. 28 at the Mollahan Center located at the Wetzel County 4-H Grounds on Rt. 7 just outside of New Martinsville, WV.

The annual event is a celebration for fans, drivers, teams, and track employees to come together and honor those who achieved greatness at the ‘bullring’ during the 2011 racing season and to bench race in anticipation of the 38th season at the historic Middlebourne oval fast approaching.

Congratulations to those earning much deserved hardware and especially to those earning their first career point titles. Those being honored for their track championships include the Dodd’s Sporting Goods Late Model Champion, Paul Wilmoth Jr.; United Rentals FASTRAK Late Model Champion, Daniel Hill; Bridgeport Equipment and Tool TSMA Modified Champion, Mike “Bird” Wilson; Herrington-Yoak Mod Lite Champion, Brandon Fluharty; Wells Inn EcoFlyer 4 Cylinder Champion, Donnie Wamsley; and Outlaw Graphics and Auto Mini Wedge Champion, Shayla Griffey. Along with the 2011 track champions, the top ten in each class and several special recognition awards will also be among the evenings honorees.

The evening will kick off with a social hour scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by dinner promptly being served at 6 p.m., catered courtesy of Quinet’s, with the awards portion of the program set to begin at 7 p.m., and lastly a DJ will provide musical entertainment to round out the evening.
