Netters prepare for post season

Not resting on their laurels from their OVAC championship win last week, the Lady Wildcat volleyball team of Paden City High School has been keeping busy, honing their skills for the upcoming Sectional tournaments.

On Oct. 18 the Lady ‘Cats play host to the Lady Monarchs of John Marshal, taking the loss in three games, 20-25, 25-21, and 23-25.

Junior Logan Cosper led the team in served points with 14. She also had 105 good sets and was credited with 28 assists and seven digs. Haley Hizer scored 12 points, and had three digs; Graeson Baker scored 12 and had six digs; Amanda Heasley, 11 points, 16 kills, six blocks, five digs; Dominique Craft, nine points, 13 kills, two blocks, nine digs; Lynnsie Parsons, eight points, six kills, nine digs; Tori Anderson, one point; Josie Fox, four digs; and Kelsey Loy had two kills, one dig.

Still at home on Oct. 18, the Lady ‘Cats also fell to Tyler Consolidated in three, 25-23, 13-25 and 13-25.

Baker led the Green and White with 12 points and had five digs; Heasley added 11 points, eight kills, six blocks and 13 digs; Hizer, nine points, two digs; Craft, seven points, 13 kills, 18 digs; Parsons, six points, five kills, 10 digs; Cosper, four points, six digs, 96 sets and 16 assists; Fox, eight digs; Loy, one kill.

The Lady Wildcats played host to East Richland Christian on Oct. 20, defeating their visitors by scores of 25-9 and 25-10.

Heasley led the team in scoring with 11 points, three aces. She also had eight kills and seven digs. Craft scored 10 points, had 12 kills, four digs; Parsons, 10 points, three kills, five digs; Baker, eight points, five digs; Cosper, seven digs, one kill, three digs, 50 sets and 18 assists; Hizer, four points, two digs; Fox, two digs; Loy, two kills, two digs.

Against the Lady Cee Bee’s of Clay Battelle at home on the same night, Paden City came away again with the win in two, 25-17 and 25-9.

Baker was on fire for the Green and White, leading the team in points with 16, three aces. She also had three digs.

Craft was credited with 10 points, one ace, eight kills, two assists, and five digs; Hizer, eight points, one dig; Cosper, six points, one ace, one kill, one dig, 57 sets and 18 assists; Heasley, six points, eight kills, six digs; Parsons, four points, three kills, seven digs; Fox, 10 digs; Loy, two kills, one dig.

The Ladies in Green hosted Williamstown on Oct. 25 and will host the Mason Dixon Tournament on Saturday.

Sectional Tournament play is expected to begin Oct. 31.
