Wildcats fall to Conotton V.
Traveling two hours and eight minutes into Ohio for a Saturday afternoon game, the Paden City Wildcat varsity football team took the loss at the hands of Conotton Valley, 20-0.
“This is a game we should have won,” said coach of the Green and White, Brent Croasmun.
“They had a nice quarterback and kids that could catch the ball, and they played hard, but we should have been able to pull together to get the win. We just didn’t.”
The ‘Cats amassed 47 positive rushing yards and 52 passing yards in the game.
Senior Taylor Still led the Green with 47 rushing yards on 17 carries; Geoffrey Bidwell had 12 yards on eight carries.
Freshman quarterback, Zach Heasley, completed four of 22 passes for 52 yards and was intercepted three times in the game. Kennedy Cain had three catches for 45 yards and Peyton Hinkley caught one pass for seven yards.
Defensively for Paden City, Jamie Billiter had 14 tackles; Keith Hardbarger was credited with nine tackles, two for a loss and one quarterback sack; Trey Leonard had eight tackles; Kyle Staton had seven tackles, one for a loss and one QB sack.
Jared Stewart, six tackles; Peyton Hinkley, six tackles, one sack; and Aaron Higgins had one interception and one fumble recovery.
The Wildcats will travel to Ohio again this Saturday afternoon as they take on winless Bellaire St. John.
