Lady ‘Cats are top seed in OVAC

The Lady Wildcat varsity volleyball team has put themselves in good position to see competitive action in post season play with a season record of 23-4 at this point in their season.

With volleyball Sectionals right around the corner, the Lady ‘Cats continue their hard work and winning ways both at home and on the road.

At River on Oct. 6, the Lady ‘Cats took the win over the Lady Pilots in three: 25-22; 25-20 and 25-19.

Senior Amanda Heasley led all Wildcat scorers with 22 big points (six aces) on the scoreboard. She also had 19 kills, four blocks and seven digs. Haley Hizer scored 14 on her watch (one ace), and had five digs; Dominique Craft scored 11 points, one ace, had 17 kills, two blocks and 16 digs; Graeson Baker scored 10, one ace, and six digs; Logan Cosper scored nine points, had nine digs, set the ball 83 times and had 38 assists; Lynnsie Parsons scored eight, one ace, had eight kills, two blocks and 10 digs; Josie Fox, one kill, three digs; Kelsey Loy, one kill.

The Lady ‘Cats will see action on Wednesday at Clay Battelle and then begin OVAC play on Saturday. Holding down the first place slot in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference in the class A division with 17 conference wins, the Green and White is expected to do well in the competition.

The team will host John Marshall on Oct. 18.
