The Wildcats of Paden City suffered their third loss of the season at Cameron on Friday as the ‘Cats fell to the Dragons, 35-14.

The Dragons got off to a scorching start in the opening minutes of the game, scoring on a four yard run to take the early lead. By the end of the first quarter, Cameron scored again, leading their visitors, 15-0.

With 2:19 to play in the first half, senior Wildcat, Taylor Still, took the ball in 11 yards and completed the two point conversion run to put the score within reaching distance, 15-7. Still ran the next Paden City touchdown in on a three yard run in the third period, but the ‘Cats would score no more, and took the loss on the chin.

“We expected to have trouble defending the pass,” said head coach of the Wildcats, Brent Croasmun. “But they also made big plays and we didn’t help ourselves any. This game was very winnable for us and we should have won. We didn’t make plays when we should have.”

Offensively for Paden City, Taylor Still led the way with 41 rushes for 189 yards, and both touchdowns. Geoffrey Bidwell carried the ball five times for six yards.

Freshman quarterback, Zach Heasley completed three of nine passes and was intercepted once for 20 yards. Bidwell completed three of five passes for 20 yards.

Kennedy Cain caught two passes for 23 yards; Peyton Hinkley had three catches for 18 yards; and Still caught a pass for five yards.

Jaime Billiter led the Wildcat defense with eight tackles, one for a loss. Keith Hardbarger was credited with seven tackles; Hinkley, six tackles; Aaron Higgins, six; Kyle Staton, five; Still, five; and Trey Leonard, five tackles.

Taking their game on the road this week, Paden City will play at Conotton Valley on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Again, the Green and White will be looking to defend the high-flying passing team.
