Lady booters win by forfeit

Though they only played one game last week, it turned out to be a long week for the Lady Knight soccer team of Tyler Consolidated. One game was played, but three were scheduled, including one junior varsity game. Unfortunately, the two home games were forfeited by Lincoln on Saturday, causing the Lady Knights to postpone their “Kickin’ for a Cure” breast cancer awareness pink-out campaign.

The only game played by the team took place at Wheeling Central against the Maroon Knights on Sept. 29. The Silver came out with the loss, 5-0.

“We just didn’t play like we can,” said head coach of the Lady Knights, Cliff Warner. “We moved the ball well, we worked our passes well, and I could see and hear communication on the field, we just couldn’t find the net.”

“We intended for our week off last week to put the season in perspective for us, rest up, get healthy and begin again, but it’s almost like we started back at the drawing board. I don’t think we were focused as we should have been, and we have to stay focused for a full 80 minutes to be competitive.”

The Lady Knights have one game scheduled this week, on Thursday against Weirton at home. Always a tough team, the Red Riders will keep the Lady Knights on their toes. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
