TC ranked 4th in OVAC

Now ranked fourth in the OVAC class AAA volleyball standings, the Lady Knight volleyball team at Tyler Consolidated are on their way to a successful season, with their eyes on the goal of post season play.

The Lady Knights played host to Robert C. Byrd and Wirt County on Sept. 24, facing excellent competition and coming out ahead in both matches.

Against Robert C. Byrd the Silver took the match in two games, 25-17 and 25-18

Senior Whitney Williams led the Knights in points with 12 and two aces in the game. Williams also had six digs in the game.

Torrye Cline scored five points, one ace, had seven digs, and eight kills; Megan Carpenter scored three pints and had four kills; Keri Suter scored two and had three digs; Sami Jones had one point, five digs and four kills; Allison Wable had seven kills in the game and three blocks; Haylea LeMasters had three digs.

Suter set the ball 45 times in the game and was credited with 20 assists for the Lady Knights.

Tyler Consolidated also handed the Lady Tigers of Wirt County the loss in two games, 25-22 and 25-18, on the same day.

Cline led the Silver scorers in the game with seven and four aces. She also had four digs and one block. Suter scored five points and had seven digs; Williams, four points, one ace, and seven digs; Jones, three points, nine digs, three blocks and seven kills; Carpenter, three pints, two blocks and two kills; Wable, two points, seven blocks and eight kills; Kerstyn Cline, two pints, one ace; Shay Yonaley, five digs; and LeMasters, two digs.

The Lady Knights are sitting on a win/loss record of 13-5 at this point in the season with several games yet to play.

The team will host Paden City, Calhoun County and Williamstown on Saturday at home. Games are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
