Seniors lead Lady ‘Cats

The senior leadership of Dominique Craft and Amanda Heasley are leading the Paden City High School Lady Wildcat volleyball team to excellent finishes this season. Here, in the mid-point of the season, the ‘Cats have racked up more wins than losses, and are competitive with every team they face.

At home on Sept. 22, the team played host to Wheeling Central, taking the match in two games, 25-19 and 25-19.

Graeson Baker and Lynnsie Parsons led all scorers in the game with 13 points apiece. Amanda Heasley scored 11; Logan Cosper and Haley Hizer each totaled five; and Dominique Craft added three. Craft also had 11 kills, three blocks and four digs; Heasley had six kills, three blocks and five digs; Parsons was credited with four kills, two blocks and four digs; Cosper, one kill, four digs; Hizer, one kill, two digs; Kelsey Loy, one kill; Baker, five digs; and Josie Fox, one dig.

Cosper had 47 good sets in the game and 19 assists.

On the same ticket, the Cats faced off with River at home taking the match in two games: 25-21 and 25-20.

Graeson Baker was the main point getter for the Green and White with 17 and three aces. She also had two digs in the game. Parsons scored eight points, had four kills, two blocks and three digs; Craft scored seven, led the team with 18 kills, she had two blocks and five digs; Heasley was credited with seven points, seven kills, three blocks and six digs; Cosper, six points and seven digs; Hizer, five points, five digs; Loy had one kill, two digs; Fox had two digs.

On Monday at home the Lady ‘Cats handed the loss to Cameron in fine fashion with two quick games, 25-6 and 25-16.

Senior Amanda Heasley highlighted the game with 14 points, three aces, six kills, and four digs. Hizer scored nine points, one ace, and five digs; Baker contributed six points, two aces, four digs; Amber Neff totalled six points; Cosper came through with five points; Loy, two points, three kills; Megan Pierce, one point; Craft, one point, four kills, two digs; and Tori Anderson, one point, one dig.

Cosper set the ball 29 times and had 12 assists, Neff had 10 sets and three assists.

Against Frontier at home, it took three games, but the Green and White came out on top in an evenly matched contest, 16-25, 25-23 and 25-20.

Craft led the way with 16 points, one ace, 15 kills, six blocks and 11 digs. Hizer added 14 points, two aces, had four digs; Heasley scored 14 points, two aces, had six blocks and six digs; Baker scored seven points, four digs; Cosper, seven points, one ace, four digs; Parsons scored four points, had four kills, two blocks; Fox, six digs; and Loy had three blocks.

Paden City has worked their way to 16 wins and three losses at this point of the season and look to be fine tuning their game just in time for post play competition.

The Lady ‘Cats will see action again on Sept. 29 at home with Linsly.
