The Ravenswood Red Devils brought their “A” game to Knight Stadium on Friday, handing the Knights their fifth loss of the season, 40-7. But the Silver held their own throughout the majority of the first half, holding the Devils to only seven points in the first quarter.

“It was a good first quarter,” said head coach of the Silver Knights, Rob Caldwell. “Ravenswood is a very good football team, and we proved we can play with them, holding them to only seven points in the first. I take responsibility for their next score though, because I called the pass play that wound up with them getting the ball and scoring.”

“We were missing several of our starters because of injury, but our younger kids stepped up again and we saw some positive things.”

The Devils went on to score 21 points in the second quarter and 12 in the third to take the eventual win. The home team kept from being shut out however, with a 13 yard pass from quarterback Cole Kocher to Koty Martin, followed by a Drew Casey extra point kick, with 9:21 to go in the fourth.

Ravenswood achieved 13 first downs in the game and had 200 rushing yards on 47 runs and 67 passing yards for a total of 267 yards.

Consolidated had six first downs, and rushed for 20 yards on 31 runs, passed 114 yards for a total of 134 yards in the game.

Sophomore Jacob Highley led all Knight rushers in the game with 16 runs for 10 yards. Josh Ruble had for rushes for five yards; Alex Doak, fresh off the injured reserve list ran the ball twice for eight positive yards; Evan Cline had five yards on three rushes; and Skyler Leasure ran the ball once for the Silver Knights to collect four yards.

Cole Kocher completed 10 of 14 passes for 114 passing yards.

Doak had four catches for 36 yards; Koty Martin caught three passes for 52 yards and one touchdown; and Levi Henderson caught one pass for 27 yards.

Defensively, it was Jacob Highley again leading the team with nine solo tackles, one assist, one quarterback sack and two special teams solo tackles; Dakota Brennaman had eight solo tackles and two special teams solo tackles; Evan Cline, six solos, one assist; Levi Henderson, three solos, one assist and one quarterback sack; Swen Scheidemantel, three solos, three assists; Cecil Spencer, two solos; Jay Earley, two solos and one assist; Skyler Leasure, one solo tackle; Spencer Billings, one solo tackle; Nick Cross, one solo tackle; and Nathan Billiter, one solo and one assist.

With several two way starters standing along the sidelines on Friday with injuries and health issues, Tyler Consolidated will use the open date this week to hopefully get some healing done.
