By Staff | Jul 6, 2011

A benefit 5K walk-run will be held Saturday, July 30, to raise funds for Amanda Bonner-Brown, who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Check in time is 8:30 a.m. at the Tyler County Courthouse.

Entry fee is $15, which includes purchase of a T-shirt. Make checks payable to LREFCU.

The goal of the benefit is to raise as much money as possible for Bonner -Brown to help with medical expenses, so awards will be limited. The course is not difficult but does include a few hills. Tyler County Courthouse is designated for the start/finish point. Participants will walk the loop of Gorilla Run Road, as well as streets in Middlebourne.

Refreshments will be available at the finish line.

If you do not wish to walk-run, but would like to purchase a t-shirt, cost is $12.

Early registration must be postmarked by July 15.

Mail checks to: Melinda Walton, Rt. 1, Box 357, Middlebourne, WV 26149 or Tracy Smith, 116 Stealey St., Middlebourne, WV 26149.

Amanda is a TCHS graduate and has a master’s degree from Ohio University in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She is a WVU graduate (2009). She is married to Tony Brown and the couple have a son, Tanner Austin, born December 15, 2010. They reside in Proctorville, Ohio.

Diagnosed at age 26, just four months after giving birth to her son, Amanda has undergone major surgeries and more are scheduled, as well as chemotherapy treatments.

She has maintained a positive attitude, with faith in God that she will fight this battle and win. She appreciates beyond words the many thoughts and prayers from family, friends, and others who are supporting her.
