Foundation sponsors race series
The Paden City Foundation, Inc. announced last week information about a new 5K race to be held in Paden City on June 4.
“The Foundation 5K” will be for runners and walkers of all experience levels and will start at 9 a.m.
The start and finish line for this event will be located at Centennial Park (Main Street at 3rd Ave.). Timing services for the race will be provided by J and J Timing of Parkersburg.
This course will be different from the Labor Day 5K staged annually in Paden City.
The first 1.5 miles will be on the city streets and the second 1.5 miles will be on a paved walking trail through the city’s park, along the Ohio River.
Trophies will be awarded to the top three overall runner and walker (male and female) and medal to the top three in each age division runner and walker (male and female). T-shirts will be available for the first 100 entrants, the entry fee is $10.
This race benefits three projects of the Paden City Foundation: The Scholarship Program, the Paden City Museum and Cultural Center, the Cornerstone Project and the Craig Broadwater Memorial Scholarship.
Entry forms for the race are available at the Paden City Museum, Paden City Public Library, Mane Event, Sweet Pickin’s, Susie’s Crafts, Paden City Municipal Building, and at WesBanco in Paden City.
Forms are also available at Quinet’s Court Restaurnat in New Martinsville. An entry form will also be available soon on the River City Runners and Walkers Club web site at: www.rivercityrunners.com.
