Wildcats still looking for first win of season

By Staff | Apr 20, 2011

Like every other team in the Ohio Valley, the Paden City Wildcat varsity baseball team is scrambling to get scheduled games in, in-between the rain drops, without much luck. To date, the ‘Cats are still looking for their first win, as well as the first full week of baseball without a cancellation due to the weather or bad field conditions.

On April 14 the ‘Cats played host to Beallsville, falling 9-5 to the Blue Devils.

Sophomore Kyle Postlethwait worked the mound for the Green and White, walking three and striking out three in six innings.

James Baker singled and doubled for one RBI for Paden City and Jay Billiter singled and collected two RBI’s.

In a make-up game with Doddridge County at home on April 14 the Wildcats fell 11-2 to the Bulldogs.

Trey Leonard handled the pitching duties for the home team, walking five and striking out four Doddridge County batters.

“The score was 3-2 after three innings, but it all just fell apart after that,” said Paden City’s head coach, Brent Croasmun.

“We gave up four runs and that was it. We just couldn’t recoup.”

Jared Stewart singled for an RBI and Matt Barker singled to collect an RBI as well.

The Wildcats are scheduled to play a double header at 3 p.m. at Tyler Consolidated on Wednesday, should the weather allow. The team is scheduled to host St. Marys on April 25.
