Knights fall to Red Devils
It has been a tough season for the Silver Knight boys basketball team. Wins have been few and far between and the competition keeps getting tougher and tougher as we head to the last few games. The Knights, however, have refused to throw in the towel and continue to give a concentrated effort every single time they take the floor.
At Parkersburg Catholic on Jan. 22 the Silver Knights struggled to get into double digits against a formidable Crusader team.
Catholic was quick to put 16 points on the scoreboard in the first period of play while holding the Knights to five. The second period went much like the first, with the ball not falling for the Knights and Parkersburg making good on everything they put up. The score at the half was 40-14, with Catholic in the lead.
The home team eventually took the win, 71-45.
“We just couldn’t score,” that’s all I can say, said head coach of the Silver Knights, J.C. Kimble. “It’s not like the kids aren’t trying and it’s not like we’re not capable. We just can’t seem to get it done.”
Senior Boone Kehrer led all Knight scorers in the game with 14 points. He also pulled down six boards, had one assist and one steal. Darren Heintzman totaled 11 points, had eight rebounds and one assist. Dylan Romine was credited with seven points and two rebounds; Corey Lowe scored five, had one rebound and one steal; Zack Knowlton added four points, had two steals, three rebounds and an assist; Justin Carpenter, two points; Drew Casey, two points; Skylar Kinnard, two rebounds; Evan Cline, one rebound, one assist and one steal; and Hunter LeMasters, two rebounds.
