‘Cats and Knights suffer BB losses

With the basketball season interrupted by the end-of-the-year holidays, both Paden City and Tyler Consolidated boys teams’ have only played a couple of games. Both teams suffered losses, but look to regroup as their seasons continue this week.

Wildcats

The Wildcats took on the Lumberjacks of Valley on Dec. 30 at Valley. Unable to put double digits on the scoreboard until the second half, the ‘Cats wound up with the loss at the hands of Valley in the game, 68-22.

Putting points on the score board for the Green were Zach Yost, with 12; Geoffrey Bidwell, four; Taylor Still, two; Trey Leonard, two and John Bates, two.

Yost was credited with five rebounds, one steal and an assist in the game; Geoffrey Bidwell pulled down four boards and had one steal and one assist; Jamie Billiter had three rebounds and an assist; Bates, two rebounds; Drew Bidwell, two rebounds, one steal and one assist; Trey Leonard, two rebounds; Bates, two rebounds; and Still one rebound.

Paden City will play again on Jan. 5 at Cameron and will host St. John on Jan. 8 at Bob Burton Gymnasium. The ‘Cats will travel to Bishop Donahue to take on the Bishops on Jan. 11.

Silver Knights

On Dec. 30 the Silver Knights of Tyler Consolidated took on the Golden Bears of Oak Glen at home. Though Consolidated led at the end of the first period, 10-9, the team found themselves behind by halftime, 24-15. A strong fourth period by the Bears put paid to Knight hopes, giving them the loss, 52-27.

Senior Corey Lowe led all Knight scorers in the game with nine. Justin Carpenter added five points; Boone Kehrer scored four; Zack Knowlton, three; Skyalr Kinnard, three and Romine, three.

The Silver Knights saw action at Ravenswood on Jan. 4 and will host Ritchie County on Jan. 7. The team will travel to Newell on Jan. 11 for a repeat match-up with the Golden Bears of Oak Glen.

The Silver Knights will host their own Roundball Tournament on Jan. 14-15 with a full schedule of boys and girls games on the schedule.
