Inaugural ‘Trot’ is successful

The Inaugural Wells Inn Turkey Trot 5K run/walk was held Thanksgiving morning in Sistersville with 52 participants traversing the course through the streets of the city.

“We feel it was a very successful race,” said organizer of the event, Chris DiBell. “We’d like to thank everyone who came out to help or to participate in any way.”

The run/walk was held as a fundraiser for the Sistersville Area Ministerial Association. Approximately $800 was raised to benefit the cause.

Well known local runner, Aaron Estep was the first place finisher overall in the run, finishing just ahead of another familiar face in running circles in the area, Matt Quinet. Shannon (Summers) Farley was the first female finisher in the run with Lynn Eagle placing first in the female division in the walk and Dan Marrin taking first place among the men.

Several awards were presented to participants immediately after the race including:

Runners – 19 and under – Joe Feeney 1st, Bill Feeney, 2nd; 20-29 – Matt Quinet 1st, Jordan Wilcox, 2nd; 30-39 – Carrie Barnsmellet, 1st, Lori Renner, 2nd; 40-49 – June Birmingham, 1st; 50-59 – Mark Heintzman 1st, Richard Summers, 2nd; 60-69 – Lowell Bee 1st, Cork Bowen, 2nd.

Walkers – 19 and under – Cora Grimm, 1st; 20-29 – Jessica Dotson 1st, Alisha Placer, 2nd; 30-39 – Jeanne Fox, 1st, Freda Thompson, 2nd; 40-49 – Jill Thorn, 1st; 50-59 – Bill Fletcher, 1st, Tracy Fletcher, 2nd; 70 and over, Paul Thomas, 1st, H.J. Rodgers, 2nd.
