Knights fall to Roane Co.

The Silver Knight football team of Tyler Consolidated traveled to Roane County on Friday to take on the Raiders, but came home with the 48-14 loss. The loss keeps the Knights winless thus far this season.
“I’m telling you, between sickness and injuries, this was not the week for us,” said Silver Knight head coach, Rob Caldwell. “We’re not making excuses, just stating facts, and Roane was a very good football team. We had six or seven guys playing sick and a couple more hurt on Friday, we’ll have to realign everything this week to make sure we have enough kids to field a team.”
“It might have been a different story if we were healthy, I don’t know. I only know that once they got started it all sort of snowballed out of control.”
Roane County put forth an excellent rushing attack which the Knights just could not get on top of, making the game a long one for the Silver and Black.
Scoring touchdowns for Consolidated in the game were quarterback Jordan Smith and Isaac Graham.

On Thursday the Silver Knights will hit the road again, traveling to New Martinsville to take on the Blue Eagles.
“All we can do is all we can do,” Caldwell said. “We’ve got to play the hand we were dealt and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. We’re going to go in there with our heads held high and do our best.”
The regular Friday night High School football fare has been changed to Thursday night this week to accommodate fans wishing to attend or watch the WVU Mountaineers vs. Marshall University on Friday night.
